Client
Major Australian building products company
Objective
To identify and acquire a new business that could be integrated into the core business and provide further manufacturing economies of scale, yet one that serviced a different customer base.
Solution
After reviewing the business and establishing key needs, Philip Hare designed and undertook a program of identifying businesses which could be acquired and which met the client’s criteria. This included development of several unique methods of identification that were run in parallel.
Results
The results achieved included the identification of a larger number of businesses than originally anticipated. This enabled further analysis and selection of the most attractive business, which was then successfully acquired. The business was integrated into the client’s business and eventually relocated to their main manufacturing site.
The client recently expanded into Malaysia and established a new manufacturing plant. The business that was acquired and integrated was replicated in the manufacturing assets for the Malaysian operation and now provides significant new sales and quality profit streams.
